I’m Brita Horn, and I’m running to be your next GOP State Chair because our party needs a rescue plan, and it needs it now.
The Colorado GOP is in trouble. Our state party is out of funds and lacks a clear strategy to win in November. But I’m not one to run from challenges. As a long-time political activist AND a fire chief, I’ve faced countless emergencies head-on, saving lives, protecting our community, all while defending our rights from an overreaching Democrat-controlled government. Now, I’m ready to bring that same determination and leadership to the Colorado GOP.
1. Robust Fundraising
I was told by many at the RNC Convention that I have the skill set for fundraising and they will be willing to open their
checkbooks and doors if I am the chair. I made a promise to them.
2. Effective Support for Candidates
The candidates are not receiving much needed data and volunteers to support their campaigns. I have the data companies waiting for this successful transition and there are networks to find volunteers to join in and unite the party to get to work.
Colorado Republicans must monitor and support four levels of campaigns at four levels of government. Those are:
Statewide – President Trump must win
Congressional – We must keep control of our Republican congressional seats of CD-4, CD-5, and CD-3 and flip CD-8 from Democrat to Republican hands.
Republicans won CD-3 by 250 votes in 2022 and Democrats want it this year. We must not let that happen.
CD-8 is the #1 toss-up congressional seat in the entire nation and it is within our grasp. We can do this.
State House and State Senate – Want to stop Polis from signing bills that are destroying our beautiful state? Then we must stop getting them passed and into his hands. That begins and ends in our State Legislature.
The Colorado State House of Representatives is currently made up of 46 Democrats to 19 Republicans. Yet 16 of these seats are officially considered “swing” districts having been won by less than an 8% margin, and every single one is held by a Democrat – even the districts that lean red. This is unacceptable and we must fight to flip as many of these seats as possible. There is zero excuse to not be supporting these candidates right now and even Colorado Democrat strategists are admitting that Democrats should be worried about these seats.
The Colorado State Senate is made up of 23 Democrats to 12 Republicans and has 6 swing seats up this year, 3 are held by Democrats and 3 are held by Republicans. We must keep our Republican seats under Republican control and work to flip the 3 seats Democrats hold – all which are within our reach with proper vision and strategy.
County: Democrats have dumped millions into trying to win Colorado county level seats such as county commissioner and sheriff. Are we paying attention?
3. We need an Energetic Get Out The Vote (GOTV) strategy
4. And protect the ballot.
We achieve all of this by recognizing the role of State Party Chair is multi-faceted. We need to deploy immediate support to the most critical areas of the state while ensuring the healthiest areas are still receiving any and all support they need. Our party is badly neglected and it is time to change that.
We need a partnership to put together a single voice and get Republican candidates elected. Just like our national
Committee Woman Christy Fidura “Ruckus” and Michell Gray did in Pueblo. The strategy and tactics they used to flip 9
of the 11 seats in Pueblo, we can apply that strategy and many more to the rest for the 63 counties and win.
If we don’t win, we can’t govern.

My determination to serve others runs deep in my soul. It’s how I was raised. Be grateful for what you have and give back more. While living in Washington D.C., I served those less fortunate at soup kitchens each night after work. It was there that my passion to serve others was ignited. After Gary and I were married and began raising two daughters, we firmly believed that you finish what you start. Whether it’s joining the volleyball team, raising a steer or sewing a dress for a 4-H project; you finish what you start. As a mother, I practice what I preach.
